Our new window in San Mateo

We are bringing our Tuscan charm to the Collective Antiques’ window downtown San Mateo.

In our new window space, we are offering more than just antique furniture and vintage accessories. We have a selection of our Italian handmade home furnishings such as Tuscan ceramics and Venetian glassware.

This 1940s leather club chair is just the right amount of broken-in.

These old wine grape presses are from Tuscany - the perfect accent for your wine cellar. The smaller one was used to press grapes for Tuscan "vin santo."

Of course the space is filled with our antique furniture from Tuscany including this cherry farmhouse table that doubles in size, this 18th century plate rack, the grand scale (97" tall!) Tuscan cabinet, and a classic walnut tilt-top pedestal table.

The antique carousel horse adds a whimsical touch to the space!

These antique Tuscan hall chairs called "sgabelli" are handcarved masterpieces.

The Collective Antiques is located at 55 East 3rd Avenue in San Mateo. They are open 7 days a week and there is free parking in the rear of the building.

Fatto a Mano now has a beautiful new space at the Collective Antiques in San Mateo!

Antique blown glass demijohns (damigiane) from Tuscany were used to store and transport wine.

We are seeing faux bamboo everywhere these days. This antique French armoire is in excellent condition and still has its original maker's label.

This elegant cabinet with walnut burlwood and original blown glass is from Tuscany, mid 1800s.

What a different armchair! This vintage French oak chair has an adjustable reclining back - the original lazy boy!

Need storage and extra seating? This antique trunk does double duty with a new upholstered top.

Massimo thought of everything – storage for wine and wine glasses, a towel bar, corkscrew hook, even a fold-out shelf!

They not only love her great designs, but also her reasonable prices. Jan has quickly gained a loyal following. Best Schiacciata in Tuscany!

While enroute from one supplier to another in Tuscany, we, of course, have to eat! On a sunny day in February, we stopped in a little borgo called Chiesanuova which Massimo had heard is famous for their Schiacciata – the Tuscan version of focaccia, or flatbread. This famous schiacciata is found in a non-descript bar that you would easily drive right by if not for the line of locals out the door! Next time you are lost in Tuscany, maybe you can find it!

Antique Tuscan Woodworker’s Bench

This antique workbench from Tuscany is called a “tavolo da falegname” in Italian, or a woodworker’s bench. This one has two old handmade vises and plenty of authentic wear & tear!

While you probably aren’t interested in doing any wood working with this table, it would be great as a console table in your home – such a conversation piece! In Italy, these worktables are often used as a serving buffets - the perfect place to prepare antipasti of salame and cheese. Also, there is an inset space along the back of the table providing room for bottles, making this unique piece useful as a bar.

The dimensions are 71″ long x 38.5″ deep (22.5″ deep at narrow part) x 33″ h. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
